I know of a family from here that might be interested. But, I don't think that they will fill out forms to have this done. Pride thing. They've been through a year of hell and it's not getting any better. Their daughter was diagnosed with a tumor last winter and they just found out this past fall that there is another one in her neck. She is terminal. I think that a photo shoot will boost their spirits. Maybe make them forget just for a moment.

Brilliant! Congratulations on your participation. I think it's a wonderful thing for families experiencing the worst moments in their lives.

It's too bad their terms and conditions seem to be a mess and that they are claiming copyright and ownership of the images along with the shooter(wtf????) Because its a project that hits home with me and I would love to be involved with-but not under those terms and conditions. I'm going to try to contact them monday and see if they are willing to agree to fair terms. I would have zero issue granting them an RM license to images for promo use on their site and posters/flyers and other self promotional materials, but there is NO way I'm giving up what they want.

Not my intent, just as I'm sure they have no ill intent. :)

This is a great cause Tanya, something I intend to pursue here in St. John's. Luckily, I work on a team with the Janeway Hospital's Oncology Social Workers daily. I'll bring this idea up tomorrow and see what she says.

A brave face needed for sure. I'm doing my first one later this month as well - a 12-year-old boy with leukemia. Turns out I worked with his father years ago.:(

Let us know how you make out and I'd be grateful for any tips on conducting the sessions with grace and dignity for all concerned.

Excellent point! I grew up in a household with a blind father. It was amazing how people would react assuming that because he was blind he must be:
    a) deaf too; and or
    b) retarded; and or
    c) all of the above.

Because i grew up with my Dad I never thought anything of his "disability". Saying he was blind was no different than saying I have red hair and hazel eyes. Simple fact - neither good nor bad - just was. I miss him.

He was a piano tuner. One lady called the house one day and said "Oh, I have an appointment to have you tune my piano and we live on the second floor. How will we get you up the stairs?" dad was cool - he just said (quite nicely - and better than I would have) "It's no problem. i can't see, but my legs work perfectly well.":brows:

Seriously. I keep checking it....not for me, but for Maia's family. Today is her pre-op day with her open heart tomorrow, and I know they were really excited to see it this morning. Hopefully it will get updated before tomorrow! :happysad:
