Flights and a VRBO in Cabo for Christmas. It’s our last Christmas as a family unit before my oldest heads to University - wanted to do something special.

20+ years since they've been in the playoffs. A good staff and a few good young core pieces. They have every reason for enthusiasm - it's been awhile!

I went to the Kraken pre-season game on Tuesday night - was a crazy sports evening in Seattle - Kraken, Sounders, and Mariners all playing - was easy to tell the Mariners were playing as Climate Pledge Arena where the Kraken play was half empty. My wife was at the Sounders game (we have season tickets for both) - the Sounders play in the stadium right next to the Mariners stadium and the fans have noise competitions - Mariners were definitely winning from what she described.

Woo-hoo! Just got the VRBO notification that we're approved for the reservation. It's an amazing spot - full Villa right on a private beach. Looks amazeballs, I can't believe it was available - a bit away from the main Cabo area as well (like a 30 minute drive or more) so wont be fighting crowds either. Can't wait!

Are there armed guards to protect you from the gangs or is that your responsibility on the private beach?

I know but being under this rock is so cozy.
You left wings flying off to a "third world shit hole" for a vacation and spending money hand over fist and then come home and say what a shit hole the country is and how sad you are that the people have to live the way they do. How much are you going to have to tip them when you leave so you don't feel guilty going back to everything you have back in Seattle? Oh wait you're a Narcissist you don't feel guilt.

I typically stay pretty neutral on here....but HairyAss stop engaging, and KMD shut the fuck up. Keep your arguments to the CBC comment section.

I’ve been better at ignoring him but you’re right. I’ll be sure to keep this important thread about our consumerism on topic.

Replacement valve system for the bathtub. Not my plans for this evening but it meant not having to call a plumber at least.

I haven't used them since school, I loved tree climbing  well the best part was coming down as long as you had your lines tied right. I am not even familiar with the gear.
Also my Dad used to be a lineman and had a pair when we were kids we were always trying them on and trying to climb every pole in the yard but the spurs never fit and we just looked like some kids stumbling around bow legged trying to dry hump every power pole around our yard.

Tire search has ended. This is the first pair I’ve bought for this vehicle so hopefully they work out. I didn’t want a cheap tire, I didn’t need an overly expensive tire, I think I landed a good middle ground tire.

basically $1300 for the set. GT Adventuro ATX. Not my rim.

Dinner out for the fam. My wife had a severe allergic reaction to a hornet or wasp sting while backpacking this weekend that could have been fatal - celebrating being alive! It was scary AF. Glad I carry a Garmin inReach on these trips and that we pack Benadryl in our first aid kit.

Is it a known allergy or just something that has just developed? That is really scary shit to have happened in the back country and you were very lucky to at least have some benyadryl. An EpiPen for that kit wouldn't be a bad idea if the allergy is that bad. :eek3:

Unknown allergy. She’s heading to the doctor Monday - will be getting an epi pen. Yes, very lucky to have the Benadryl - not standard first aid kit stuff.

    Landed in Montreal yesterday AM.

Everyone kept telling my coworker and I to grab a sandwich from Schwartz's deli. Had to stop by. Grabbed that today.

Went to a Baton Rouge for dinner last night. That was delicious.

Also got told to go to Schwartz’s. It certainly didn’t disappoint but I’ve had comparable montreal style sandwiches here. White Sails Bakery makes a great one.

just up the road somewhere from Schwartz’s there’s a place to get really good traditional macaroons, but I forget the name

Two doors down from Schwartz’s was, until COVID, the best steak house in the solar system. Fingers crossed Moishes reopens.
