    I'm getting these errors..

I cant sign into msn (0x81000301)
    I cant update microsoft (0x800C0005)
I cant update spybot search and destroy.. it says it cannot retrieve date into file.
When I go to play CS, and click "internet games" it times out.

So whats goin on? I've tried a heck of a lot different things just from googling the errors, and nothing seems to be working. I've run out of ideas and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the situation, or I guess I'll have to like.. reinstall xp? :(

    Help sarah :happysad:

DO control, alt, delete and see if there are any abnormal processes running under the process tab.You could have a virus. You are running antivirus, right.

Try this, but you will lose any custom smilies and pictures and backgrounds...

    1) Click Start > Run
    2) Type: %appdata%\Microsoft and press enter.
    3) Right-click the MSN Messenger folder and delete it.

Here are a few things to try...

Check and disable any firewall software you may have running (norton internet security?)
    Clear your internet cache/temp files/autocomplete history/password history
Set IE to be your default browser
In internet options (IE) enable SSL

Sounds like all these things could be related.... your internet connection perhaps............. ?

I've tried all the stuff listed.. nothing seemed to work, nothing abnormal in my running processes except a couple things that are related to norton, although norton isnt running.

I dont know :( I hope this fixes itself.

Definatly, I think. I mean, brian set this computer up, and I'm pretty sure since his company uses microsoft or something, all the employees get it for their home computers too.

    Something liket hat.

I have a coworker that is going threw the exact same problems right now, many others are too. His problem is a virus,he can't get rid of it for some reason.I am expecting him to drop it off to me tomorrow. Your best bet would be to take the drive out and set it as a slave in a computer that has updated antivirus on it and then scan it and repair whatever is wrong. It may not be a virus but at least you would have ruled it out by trying this.

Anyone has an idea as to what virus, specifically, might be causing this?
