looking at some info on insulating my basement (we're starting on turning it into an income suite) and there is plenty of information and resource on how to do the walls but very little for the floor. I was originally going to do R-5 codeboard before i lay down my 7/16" OSB, but it's 1" thick and might be overkill. The basement height is already 7' so i don't want to build the floor up to high if i can get away with it. Is the R-2.5 1/2" thick codeboard good for initial floor insulation?
the basement was finished about 20 years ago and its unreal how little they insulated it; underlay for the laminate flooring was right over top the concrete floor, 2" thick framed walls with split batts.
