I know that Saab's are not the type of car that people on here talk about very often (if ever) but I was wondering if anybody has any experiences with them, (particularly the 9-5) and any issues, concerns or service problems that I should be aware of. Thanks.
What year/model/engine/trans/bodystyle/trim level would you be looking at? Slightly more information than none is generally the best way to get the answers you are after.
Too much money to fix. You can more than likely get a better car that can be easily maintained than a Saab.
Thing is, Saabs can be very reliable and therefore cost very little to fix.. because there isn't much to fix.
The same could be said about BMW, Mercedes....even Acura, all are reliable cars. But around here, it will cost you and arm and a leg to fix a Saab. Especially a used car, maintainance is a given when buying a used car.
I'm looking at a 2001 9-5 Aero Wagon in the pewter colour - 2.3 liter, 5 speed, turbo (of course), pretty loaded and in super shape. I drove a 99 6 cylinder last year and it was an interesting car to drive - they definitely feel different. I have two kids that play hockey, basketball and soccer, so I need space for gear but still want to have a somewhat sporty vehicle. My main concern is servicing here in Halifax. Would I have to take it to the dealer on Kempt road ($79 an hour for Saab service) or is there somebody who is good with this make. I have heard that there is a guy in the northend that is great with these but still not sure.
