Looks like Canso/Cape Breton are in for a walloping. I know some RC members live out that way as does a lot of my family, so stay safe!

Yeah, I've been following this one and it looks like Halifax will be seeing a tropical storm and Cape Breton is gonna get hammered :(

What’s different about the models now that have people so confident that the storm will stick to the current track?

I usually just look at all the models and if they are all in agreement, its pretty accurate...BUT...things can change as we all know. The other thing with this storm is it has so far been bang on to forecasted track since it left Puerto Rico, so it seems models got a handle on it.

I assume trees are still full bloom of leaves like in Fredericton, that combined with wind == massive power outages

So, it's no different than any other large storm coming for Nova Scotia - I'm sure I could find 50 threads here on RC with everyone staring at the predictions, getting ready for a big event, and then following up with, "well, that didn't turn into anything".

While I agree wholeheartedly that it wouldn’t be the first storm to change course, the main difference is when you look at the cone of probability, it would have to go to the far right to have less significant impact. If it stays on it’s likely track or veers left it’s a major problem. I’m not so concerned with the wind as I am with the loss of power which can happen if someone here even sneezes. I’m supposed to fly to Toronto tomorrow but am changing my flight to Saturday morning. If it hits I cancel, if it turns into a nothing burger, out I go.

I'm sure every thread on here I've mentioned previously had similar cones of probability is all I'm saying.

400k without power. When daylight comes I’m going to log in and check how much of my backhaul is down for work. It’s gunna be a long, arduous weekend for me, I think.

It's really bad here in NG, lots of damage, powerlines/poles down, flooding. It'll be a few days id say before the inner town gets power, never mind out of town areas.
