[are using a userid that if googled by a potential employer would come back to you? Check out my Pole.

Edit....the presumption is that you would not be stupid enough to give a prospective employer your userid without being forced to.]

Yep. However, my username would never be on anything I was giving to my employer/potential employer

I highly doubt by googling Ty, you'd come up with me, but if so, I don't really care. If I am not going to get hired because I speak my mind, it's not a place I want to work anyways. I am on here as I am in person, so they'd be seeing the same thing eventually anyway.

Mine is my first name. I changed my user id before because it had my last name in it and I didn't like that RC came up when I googled my name.

Google your full name in quotes. Do the same for your email address. Some of you would be surprised.

Why would a potential employer be Googling random user ID's? How would a potential employer know my user ID or what websites I frequent? It's not like I have CyberCX anywhere on my resume or list www.reality-check.ca under "Other Interests/Hobbies".

Anyone with any amount of internet research skills can pull up a lot on a person with relatively few clues.

I always do online research on people I'm thinking of hiring before pulling the trigger.

    And that includes Boots!

<--- not a very remarkable name

the old name - swaterinater - was far too unique... I had to go with something less traceable :ohnoes:
Even my full real name is hard to google because its SUPER COMMON

Unfortunately yes, I used to be very active in the Win32 alternate desktop shell scene ie LiteStep, BB4win and various application customization that a google search of my username will bring you a plethora of crap that I've done in the past.

I google my name and email on a regular basis. As profiles/accounts crop up that never showed in google before, I log into that particular site and delete my account.

Unfortunetly someone wrote out my entire name in a post on here a long time ago so google brings up RC :(

If you look up my name there is actually a ryanduggan.ca site that isn't me, so I should be ok.

At that time it was my user id so it doesn't count.
I might PM that person with a link to their post and ask if they can edit it.

If you search my full name you'll find me, but if any potential employers want to google my name, they can go for it  It's not like I have an internet police record or anything
