How do I make a transparent .gif ?

    Well it depends if you want an animated .gif or stand still .gif. If you want it to be animated get Adobe Image Ready or if you want a stand still .gif image with trasparency properties then you can simply use Adobe Photoshop.

    I could explain to do it either way but I am super lazy so here is a simple tutorial on how to apply transparency to a non animated .gif in Photoshop
