Just what the title says; I'm looking to buy a new semi-auto 22lr. Sub $500. It'll be rarely used. Once in a blue moon for small varmint (raccoon, etc), and maybe 25-50 rounds a year plinking. I prefer the look/feel of wood stock, am indifferent between blued/stainless, and would prefer to buy once and keep it for the rest of my life. Suggestions? Was leaning towards the Marlin Model 60, but am liking some of what I'm hearing of the new Winchester Wildcat (two OBVIOUSLY different rifles).
Not semi auto but my buddy has one and it's an awesome little rifle that's a ton of fun to shoot https://www.cabelas.ca/product/3078/henry-lever-action-rifle
Again, not semi, but I'll love to get a Ruger Precision 22LR. Kind of up in the air if I want that or a Winchester 101. Skeet or Target... I can't decide.
With a .22 it's way more fun with a semi auto. Bolt action has its place, but with a .22 I think semi auto is the way to go. More fun plinking, way more fun at a range. If was exclusive for varmints, I'd say go with the bolt action. But you said plinking. Cant get any better than a Ruger 10/22 for what you're describing. Not expensive, accurate, reliable and last forever.
Thanks gents. I’ll stop into the Gun Dealer at some point in the coming days to see what feels right.
