How about this clip of a cat-walking photog who gets arrested. Ouch. Makes me think twice about my early morning sessions when I travel. Or not.
funny thing about this is... I was in Boston this summer and was about to take a pic of the subway when "authority" approached me and told me I wasn't allowed to take photographs of the subway... I thought he was jokin' so I continued.... but then noticed he was really serious.... so I put the camera away. Like WTF?
That depends where you are, there's actually no laws against photographing Subways or transportation infrastructure in a lot of cities but the private security companies that work them will threaten people anyway. There's tonnes of stories about Amtrak putting on a train photography contest last year asking people to submit their best commuter train pictures and then dozens of photogs got hassled under the guise of terrorism.
I was accosted by the police when I took this shot at Schipol airport in Amsterdam: As you can see, this was a serious threat to security. I had no problems going for a toke, though. Gotta love Amsterdam.
NYPD's enforcement of non-existent subway photo-ban costing taxpayers a fortune in lawsuits http://www.boingboing.net/2009/02/18/nypds-enforcement-of.html
I was threatened with arrest and confiscation of my equipment for taking pictures of Cogswell Towers from the sidewalk. According to the Rent-a-Cops, taking the same pictures from the other side of the street was illegal as well. Fun times :-)
