Your opinion will change once you do. Why did you buy a barrel not suited for skeet? What other use is a shot gun if you don't hunt or target shoot?

Every time someone says they emptied a handgun clip, I think of crime dramas on TV.

Yeah, the main reason I bought a 500 was for the availability of parts/barrels.

Well they aren't much fun to shoot without a barrel. Downright dangerous.

The 18.5" barrel is for fun shooting.

I guess what I'm confused about is if you're not hunting and not shooting skeet, what are you shooting?

His 18.5 inch chokeless barrel was designed to be used on a DEFENSIVE shotgun... for shooting very bad two legged predators.

    But he won't admit that.

Because Boots is a closet democrat. :D

Shooting paper targets with s shotgun is like using a paint roller on a coloring book.

Boots take Cheddar's invite and take that new shotgun out to shoot some clays and see what it will do. You might also want to look at getting your existing barrel threaded for choke tubes but it might just be easier to buy a new barrel.
I have a browning O/U that I have had for years and it has only ever been shot once by me, if I am going to shoot clays I use the guns I use when hunting and that's my 870 or my mossberg 930 as well as a few others that I really need to get out and show some love.
