Twas the night before Christmas... Twas the night before Christmas and caught at the light, was a Pontiac GTP and no cops in sight, I will try, I will try, I will try with this small motor, To beat this black Grand Prix, even with it's Eaton blower, As the light goes green and I pull like no joke, The GTP next to me erupts in clouds of front tire smoke, Now Smasher, now Revver, now Stroker, now Blitzin, These are the names of my four VTEC pistons, Racing ahead I'm the star of the action, But I know I'm in trouble when that supercharged V6 gets traction, Grabbing second, I hear the RPM sing, My rear view mirror is blocked by my three foot wing, I now hear the roar, of that supercharged V6 gaining, It is all I can do to keep this four-banger straining, In a second, the shockwave hits with a blast, And my stickers go flying now, all things of the past, Don't bother with third, cause now it's too late, Just try to act cool, like you can relate, Looking up at the taillights as they got smaller, The driver backs off just long enough to give me a holler, "You can't win them all," he says waving, "You may not win any at all in that silly little thing" I smile and revved my four banger as he pulled out of sight, With my new mods tomorrow... I'm sure it will be a better night.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Now Smasher, now Revver, now Stroker, now Blitzin, These are the names of my four VTEC pistons"
GTP fat and slow?...I'm not going to get into a flamming war here but take a visit over at clubgp.com and see some fast GTP's out there and some fast GT's to. Stock GTP (97-03 model with 240HP) will hit Low to mid 14's on the quarter mile. Stock Gt's same year are about 1 second off on the quarter mile
Some gtp's are fast, yes. but low/mid 14's stock is not only not fast, it's not true. Plus, GM vehicles are my living, I know all about them........ don't tell anybody, but they suck ass!
Your comment said that GTP's where slow. My comment was made in comparison to the Civic that was quoted in the Night before Christmas. All I'm saying is that a stock GTP will out run (on the quarter mile) a Stock Civic. As for Ricers, I have respect for the ones who have the fast cars and the clean cars. However, I have a hard time with the ones that put on a K&N Air filter, set of neon spark plug wires and matching Valve covers and claim there car is a monster on the quater mile. Mid 14 second car for a four door sedan I is "respectable" in my opinion. We could argue all day about this car and that car and that time and so on, but lets just agree that Posers in general (be it import or domestic drivers) SUCK!
Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one. Believe it or not, if you work as a mechanic(which I assume you do) most of the cars you see will have something wrong with them. Besides lots of guys work at GM and love them. Its probably a decision you made long before working with them. The poem is pretty funny also.
I believe he's a service writer, not mechanic. And as for the GTP's being slow. . don't think so. I'd put a GTP up against any stock 4 door civic (comparison sake). Come to think about, and Twisted_Civic, hate to say this, my friend has a GTP thats been put on an extreme diet that is mainly stock, care to line up?
Steve, I don't drag race, I think you know that, I tried it once last year and it was ok, but it's not for me. I built my car for what I like to do, solo race (track and parking lot), and I have a ton of fun with it. And, I'm not a service writer, I'm the warranty admin, but I am a mechanic too, not as good as you, but I do all my own work. I agree with you, a gtp, stock or not, will stomp all over a "stock" civic of any kind, but gtp's were built to be quick, civics for the most part, aren't. p.s. I'll line up with anybody, anytime on the track. Last year I got lined up with a 10 second camaro, I think he was done before I left the line
