Accuweather just sent an alert, still calling for a snowpocolypse...followed by random snow from Fri-Mon of additional 30cm

I played a hockey tournament in Cole Harbour on Sat and had a couple hours between games so I took a drive out to Cow Bay to check out the waves breaking near Rainbow Haven. Ocean was all sorts of riled up.

We got that system that is in Chicago on the weekend. Flying to Toronto now and it looks like it is going to meet me there.

Special weather statement in effect for:

    • Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Snow expected Wednesday night into Thursday.

A low pressure system will approach Nova Scotia Wednesday night and Thursday. Snow will develop Wednesday night over southwestern portions of the province and spread eastward on Thursday. A changeover to rain showers is expected on Thursday for western areas of the province but the snow is expected to persist over easternmost sections before tapering off to flurries or rain showers Thursday night.

Currently, 10 to 15 centimetres is expected with higher amounts possible over eastern Nova Scotia.

On Friday a second system will pass south of Nova Scotia. Snow will develop over eastern parts of the province Friday afternoon and spread westward Friday evening. Snowfall amounts exceeding 15 cm are possible.

Additionally, large waves, heavy pounding surf and higher than normal water levels will continue to impact the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia tonight. These conditions could give minor coastal flooding, shore or beach erosion, and possible infrastructure damage in vulnerable areas, especially during high tide. Water levels are expected to diminish on Wednesday.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.weatheraspc.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NSStorm.

Parked my car at the office around 6am and there was no snow. Went out of town with another guy for a meeting, where it didn’t snow, and came back to this around 3pm  I also got plowed in :(

I picked up 2 APC Back-UPS at Value Village last week. I paid $26, they're worth about $500. Right now I have the computer, modem and router hooked up to one, and TV, PS3 and stereo hooked up to the other. They've done a great job of keeping everything up and running so the kids don't have to keep restarting their movie on Netflix  They've got about 25-30 minutes of juice to keep everything running if the power actually goes out completely, but so far they've just been dealing with flickers.

Got blasted in fredericton, it's still a blizzard right now out there. Supposed to get 10-15 cm the next few hours.

Going to dream of sunshine and close the blinds.

I was happy to see this morning that the rain got rid of most of it, and I didn't have to shovel! Pretty clear in Dartmouth right now at work, although some surrounding business are still without power.

Special weather statement in effect for:
    • Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
More wintery weather likely late in the day Wednesday and Wednesday night changing to rain on Thursday...

A low pressure system will approach the Maritimes from the southwest on Wednesday. At this time it appears much of the province will see the precipitation start as snow late in the day Wednesday but will likely change through ice pellets and freezing rain Wednesday night and to rain or drizzle over most areas by early Thursday morning. As this system has yet to form, there are still a range of possible scenarios that could significantly change the precipitation types and amounts before it arrives in the region on Wednesday.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as this system and its impacts become better defined over the next couple of days.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.weatheraspc.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NSStorm.

My Mother in law lives in Bathurst NB. They've accumulated 411cm's of snow thus far for winter 2018. Nuts to that I say.
