How are you saving for web? The jpeg jaggies are really bad.
Good catch lights in the baby's eyes, and highlight on lower lip.
I don't see the "jaggies" so I can't comment on that.
Looks like they may be from over sharpening??
I see the jaggies too.
I use photoshop's adjust image size. Is there a better way to do it for the web?
What quality are you saving it at? It looks like it was saved very low.
when using photoshop to sharpen, which sharpen filter should be using?
Is this better? I saved this one with maximum quality
looks MUCH better to me..
I really like it good work
Thanks for the input! I didn't realize what big difference the quality made... now I know!
Here are some more from the same shoot.
Ok I need help here. I got the first picture printed and it came out with a pink/majenta cast. Is it the print quality or is it my pictures fault?
Where did you print it?
did you print the one with the blanket over his head?? it looks like a pink hue to me on my monitor but im not calibrated so i have no idea if that's accurate? did you use a grey card?
where did you print i had that happen once with one of my prints now when i use the grey card it really helps also most walmarts prints Suck but i dont really like carsand either so im planning on going to costco
Fyi, Carsand and Costco use the same machine.
I tried costco and Walmart, the color was the same. I didn't really like costco. it's like walmart has a "smoother" print. I really don't know how to explain it but I feel wierd saying it but I liked walmart over costco. I didn't use a grey card, I really don't know how to use that. If I shoot with my lights shouldn't I set my WB at 5600? And another question, how do I calibrate my m onitor and is it really necessary?
lol what is it you don't like about the prints from carsand? their printing is perfectly fine.
costco is fine, but i find on bigger prints you always have to trim a bunch of white off of edges randomly....also you have to always make sure the 'auto correct' is off @ costco.
walmart prints are garbage. i tried a bunch of places when i was looking for bulk options for 4x6. walmart=garbage superstore=not much better than garbage shoppers=hit and miss aps, costco and carsand are all roughly the same quality.
i have printed a LOT.
Is this any better?
it's absolutely 100% necessary. no ifs ans or buts. you can 'try' to eyeball it with a few different software progs, but to get it accurate you NEED to pick up a hardware calibration tool. I haven't tried anything except for the spyder line. but have heard some of the other, cheaper alternatives do just as good of a job.
as for wb, you should definately learn how to properly use a grey card. it's just good a good practice to follow. it will assure you are getting proper WB.
White edges, do you mean the white border? I used the machine where you put in your memory stick. I didn't notice an auto correct option... Is this when you order them online?
Can you recommend one that will be accurate or best?
ColorVision Spyder2 Express
ColorVision Spyder 3 Pro...
Yes, when you order online from Costco.
By "smooth" do you mean glossy?
no, they were both done "matt" I think you can see more skin imperfections at costco.
that means the print is better quality lol.
they will both do a good job.
the pro i think will give you better options for more than onle display etc etc.
but to be honest the express will probly be just fine for you. if there is a big price diff go with the 2, if it's similarily priced, go 3 pro.
Sounds like a plan. More $$ out of my pocket. Sweet though, more tools to make my pictures better.
Now for the gray card... isn't that the same as using a flash meter??
Your image has a colour cast, I sampled the white background at f3eef3 in an 11x11px average...
I'm assuming those numbers mean that my image is still not right! lol I need to calibrate my monitor.
It means your white is not white.
sorry i should have specified just don't like the customer service it took them like 35 mins to find my print didn't offer a discount or an apology! i stood there waiting FOREVER.. and i do mean 35 minutes easy! 3 ppl and they couldn't find it it was 12-18 or something so its not like it was small
costco also seems wayy cheaper
Ok, I just calibrated my monitor with Syder2express. Do you guys thill see issues with this image?
