I was down there Saturday, great time. Once they put the feed out it was like a freenzy. Mine didn't come out this good, I was using a 70-200 non IS, what about you.
yeah we never got there till after 12 but there were still plenty of chickens lying around for everyone to fight over. was using a 70-300mm kit lens. quite surprised with the results actually, I never really used it much in the last 4 years I've had it.
GORGEOUS.. wow 75-100 i didn't even think there was any of these around? people throw out chickens for them? do you mind if i ask where this is??
They are there next week too. This was my first time out to see them and was skeptical about the whole thing. It was really worth the trip and will go again next year.
not a crisp shot but gives you an idea of what it was like when they were grouped up. 11 or 12 in this shot. and 20 or so in this one:
Seriously considering going next weekend, and taking a trip to the pet store for some rabbits and hamsters on the way.
These are great, nice & crisp. Makes me wish I had extra cash for better gear... but I'm sure I'm not alone in that sense
so where is the best spot to see them, I know it's Sheffield Mills but is there a specific field or something that is best?
I'm not sure which is the best. This is the first time I went and only went to one spot which was on Middle Dyke Rd I believe. You can go to the Hall to start and pickup a map and check with the locals to see if there is a hot spot for the day.
http://www.eaglens.ca/locate.php Zoom in on the map and it will show the exact location that they will be feeding them. It's the same spot that pcphotos went to. The website says they usually feed them between 9am and 10am. I couldn't make it the last two weekends but this time I'm free so I'm planning to get there at 9am. To the OP, beautiful shots! The 1st and 3rd are my favorites.
ahh yeah that is where I was. I didn't get there till after 12 and there were still a lot of chickens to be had by the eagles so there was lots of action. but yeah 9-10 is probably even better as I bet their hungry first thing Thanks!
I'm thinking about hitting this place up tomorrow morning - weather looks good, chance to get out and shoot, and even if I come back with zero decent shots I'll get to see some awesome eagles. w00t!
