Laptop is two months out of warranty. The power adapter just kicked the bucket.
Does Dell send me a new one?

nope. some aren't very expensive though, hopefully yours is one of the less expensive ones.

I once had an adaptor blow up, that was interesting.

If you talk to the right people they will. How persistent are you? Actually, you haven't given up on Jani so I already know the answer to that. You'll do fine. I kept bugging Logitech until they sent me an adapter for my Harmony 880 remote. The first person told me it was going to be $10.00 plus shipping, then the next person told me it was free. I didn't have warranty or the receipt.

I went straight to a manager Toronto who's subodinate helped me with a problem a year and 2 weeks ago. I've done nothing but compliment his hard work, and her ability to run a strong team.
A lady just called me back and said this is the easiest thing she's had to deal with all day. My fingers are crossed.

If on the off chance they decide to do it, do I push for overnight delivery? :kekeke:

I vote they send you a free adapter, because it's easier than listening to your complaint.

Its called customer service. They do nothing, and I walk away a little cheesed that it happed so close to the warranty. Or they do something and I walk away amazed that even 2 months after warranty they helped me out.

Which senario would leave me more likely to become a repeat customer?

I guess you've been weened onto the Bell Method. Their way would be to give me a 1 year warranty, but 5 months in cancel it and send me a letter informing me that I now have to pay to use the vowels on the keyboard, and then notify me that I have to switch to a Mac OS and all my programs are going to be useless in one week at my expense.

    I kid I kid.

The battery on my macbook went about 6 months out of warranty and they went good for a free one and threw in a free power adapter too because it may have caused the battery to fail. I just had to spend a little time on the phone.

Agreed... I had an immaculate HTC Touch carried in case baby'ed to death took out of the case one day after 3 months black screen... sent away to be fixed told me to come pick it up no charge... only to tell me the motherboard was damaged beyond economical repair!!!

After purchasing the extra year warrenty and everything...

I called CS and wanted to payout my 2 contracts if they werent going to do something so they said to purchase a new phone they'd credit me 75$ towards it... when I call back a month late to have credit applied they say sorry no one put that on your record and no we will not give you shit...

Basically tricked me into spending another 300 *^*^* dollars!! :pissed:

I don't like Bell anymore than you do, but I dislike bellyaching customers that assume they're entitled to something for free when they're not, even more. If I worked at Dell, i'd send you a power supply for a different model laptop. :)

How was I bellyaching? I called, said this happened, and asked if they could help me. Not once did I ask for a thing. I said, "I just wanted to find out with it only being 2 months after warranty, if you guys really stick to the dates, or if its a grey area, and if its grey, how to I push it in my favor?" She said it was the easiest question she's had all week and would call me back.

PS, I'd be happy with a different power supply. I could make it work, or at the very least sell it and use the money to buy a generic model.

They won't, unless they have changed how they deal with things. I know three years ago they wouldn't for me but they did sell me another extended warranty, sadly the extended warranty didn't cover power adapters, but I put it to good use anyways. :happysad:

    1) Why are you letting them bully you? Put the phone on automatic payment with a credit card. Get paid up completely. Cancel the phone, cancel the payments, and put in a grievance with the CC company so your report isn't affected.

    2) Send me your old phone. Betcha we can get it working. If not, call HTC directly (UTStarcom) in Ontario. They have retarded good customer service.

The words "motherboard is beyond economical repair" were a little strong to thing it could be fixed... and it was gone FOREVER!
Tell me where to send it I will tonight...

    Update:

Adapter should be here first thing tomorrow morning. Was air freighted out at 1pm. No charge.

She also said if that doesn't work, then they will send me another part that might be the cause of the problem.
