We watched bowling for Columbine in class yesterday and that part where he wanders around Canada opening people's doors got me wondering.. does the majority of Canada leave their doors unlocked? -- I know growing up in the City in the winters, we always left both our doors unlocked. After having some sketch-bags move-in on either side of us we've since decided to start locking 'em. When I live down the valley in the summers we never locked our doors. Still don't. I guess it all depends on where you're from. Edit: Probably a bad idea to talk about on the iNet, so the poll will do if you're not comfortable answering.
Ours (City wise) are always locked when we're out, but when we're home we always have them unlocked unless we're all going to bed.
I personally don't care but Adrienne is a door locking nazi. I don't have any fear of anyone walking into my house.
I normally arm the alarm at night too, before going to bed. A girl from my g/f's class had her downtown Halifax apartment broken into a couple of weeks ago, in broad daylight. She had just left for school and her b/f was still sound asleep in bed. He didn't hear a thing. Stories like that remind me of the importance of home security.
I lock them when I'm in bed. I've had a drunk, disoriented old man walk into my bathroom while I was having a shower, though... that sucked.
I even lock the bathroom door when I'm home alone. I think all thoes home alone movies really got to me. When I was younger, I wouldnt shower unless someone was home because I couldnt hear anything going on in the house.
Doors are locked if we're not home. When we're home, they're unlocked. Our friends and family come and go as they please, and some of them have keys. Also, if we just have to run to the mailbox or walk the dog, they might not always be locked.
my front door is far from my living room, so people could walk in and I wouldnt hear.. my roomates sister came in once and hid for an hour before we found them.
hahah not quite. He was a drunken old dude with his eyes glazed over going on about his groceries being on the back patio. I had to grab my bathrobe and climb out of the tub soaking wet and force him out the front door, trying to explain to him that he had the wrong house. Was kinda creepy, actually.
In Halifax, always locked. Especially after that guy was breaking in and watching girls sleep. Back home where I grew up, door were never locked, in the summertime we would go to bed with them unlocked and only a screen door
My neighbours are door locking nazi's too. As soon as they walk in the door, they slame there door shut, and lock it. They lock the top lock and the doornob has a lock in it too .. and they have 2 other locks they added theirselfs. We have an extra one too just incase. We use it when the power goes out.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 176x220)) Only if no one is home or at night, unless we're all drunk and passout, then it doesn't usually get locked.
Back in Mahone Bay, I know we only locked them at night when we all went to bed or when no one was home. But if we are in the house..we never did. But in the city, I lock my door the second I walk in my apartment.
