Ferguson was not the same, this one was a clear use of excessive force. The guy yelled out over and over he couldn't breathe for fuck sakes.

Ever watch COPS? If they let go of everyone that claimed they couldn't breath during an arrest, the prisons would be empty. 90% of the time they take someone down with force, the criminal screams about something hurting them. The guy has nobody to blame but himself imo. He chose to sell illegal cigarettes on the corner and he decided that it was worth fighting the police over.

The NYPD aren't supposed to be using choke holds. Excessive force is something we can argue about, the unauthorized force is what's most inappropriate IMO, and it isn't disputed.

That guy was clearly on video doing nothing even remotely close to being warranted 4 guys to hold him down while one of them choked him to death. Excessive, unauthorized, whatever...this was manslaughter. What a disgrace to cops.

The cops may have broke some rules of the job (the chokehold) but that guy put himself in that situation. Would never have happened if he wasn't breaking the law and disobeying a law enforcement officer :o

There should be a lot of dead Natives outside of Truro for selling illegal smokes if death is the punishment.

He didn't die directly because of the smokes. He died because he decided they were worth fighting the police over. If he had of just listened and taken his ticket, he'd probably be out selling smokes right now.

The NYPD spent $152 million in misconduct lawsuits last year...I like police, I respect and trust them, but there is a problem that is out of control. It's almost to the point they have to have body cameras on all the time to prevent cops from overreacting.

I'm 100% for body cameras on police. Anyways, this is a good debate for another thread :o

That's the one I was telling you about a couple weeks ago... The guy survived, and the cop was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

How do you yell or even talk if you can't breath? Air still has to go through the same path?

    Cooper?

I believe the coroner's office said that a number of factors may have contributed to his death including pressure on his chest when he was down and pre-existing asthma.

Not defending the cops because I don't know the whole story but if he yelled 11 times that he couldn't breath as his wife said in an interview, it would sort of suggest that he could breath.
