I see that it says you can get the HD stream if you download their desktop app. Any idea if that's actually true, or is it just a scam to load crap onto your computer?

The last time I tried it, it loads a bunch of crap. Which is why I'm looking for HD NHL content elsewhere, lol. HairyAss' solution seems proper for me for next season.

XBMC for me, with a HD antenna. Great setup.

For those using XBMC, what add-ons are you using? My favourite is IceFilms, seems to do what I need.

I found NaviX to be a bit too temperamental.

Thanks. I assumed that it was garbage. I just thought that I'd ask on the off chance that it was legit.

Scott, I'd get that old PC from work and connect it up to your TV with internet. That's what I have done and then you can stream a lot of the more popular shows right from the Global and CTV web sites. Then find torrents and download the rest. We are thinking of cancelling Satellite as well and trying this route for awhile. Definitely not as convenient as having the old DVR set for everything you want to see.

I might set my media pc to scan usenet nzb rss feeds and auto download the latest shows after they air and are uploaded.

I have a roku 2xs. It uses plex just like the chrome cast but it can also access Hulu and other online streaming content.

Can you access alot of the good shit with the Roku in Canada, or is it region specific? The list of channels looks pretty decent but alot of the reviews I have seen said there's f-all available up here with it. My cousins are using my netflix on their pos wii for their tv purposes and I'd like to pick them up something with a better selection.

    x.
Never saw this question but compared to the addons in xbmc on the minix the roku channels suck. I only used the Roku for netflix and plex.

Don't forget the roku has the unsupported app store as well. You can pick up channels like "yifi" and "let me watch this".

Interesting, never did delve too deeply into that. I'll have to check it out when I take the appletv out of the bedroom and put the roku in it's place.

I found you can get most of the channels that xbmc has. "let me watch this" is identical to 1channel.

Try it out. It has some other good channels as well. Try yifi for movies.

Just Google plex unsupported app store. Then you don't need channel codes. This all runs through plex.
