Hopefully you don't kill too many elderly or immune compromised people with your ignorance.

    Jesus.

Guess the hundreds of well educated, well respected doctors, from every major country are just idiots.

Glad we have a voice of reason in all of this.

Scary part is there is a massive swath of the population who thinks (or doesn't think?) like him. I agree that there's a massive amount of overreaction to this thing and it would be better handled in a more calm, controlled fashion with people repeating facts instead of the last thing they read on their facebook/twitter feed but overreaction is better than under reaction in this situation.

Amazon has massively stepped up their game around here locally. I'm ordering stuff and getting it the next day and/or on weekends

I saw one post the other day calling it a hoax, a ploy by doctors to help the politicians get richer. Like, how do you even come up with this kinda BS?

I think it might be UPS/etc that have really stepped it up. My Inbound shipments to Canadian warehouses are getting through NB and to ON/AB/BC faster than ever.

But those drivers are picking them up at regional UPS hubs. Nearest warehouse at this point is just this side of Ottawa. I might be wrong on all of this, but ups is definitely getting things from me to Amazon faster these days.

More or less a technicality at this point to allow government to react quicker. I look at is as a sign they are being as proactive as possible :D

Well they are forcibly shutting businesses down...but yeah, it's to remove red tape. Businesses should have been shut down anyways.

Getting it the next day? They're consistently behind their quoted delivery timeframe by a day or two. Or MIA altogether, Bonshaw is terrible.

This work from home on a full time basis as opposed to only when I get called for a network outage.... not as good as it sounds.

Because all that time used to screen them could be used to ship packages instead.

Bezos isn’t known for making the best decisions. Looking at the world’s billionaires, you have him and Elon musk making poor decisions (Musk is basically forcing his workers to continue working in the plants putting together Tesla’s) and then on the other end, Bill Gates (and I’m sure a few others) trying to help. Thinking back to that discussion around taxing billionaires... then again, Trump is just going to fuck it all up anyway.

Tracking said both would arrive today. One has said NJ since the 14th and one has said ON since the 18th no updates. I doubt I’m going to see them at all at this point

Saw that coming. Same deal as NB. First step is just telling people to be smart about this, second step is enforcement for those who don't. Carrot didn't work, time to break out the stick.

We are still in a pretty good situation all things considered. New cases are travel related and we now have in province testing without needing to go to the national lab for confirmation.

State of Emergency is really just a way to free up funds to be used without red tape. I would have assumed NS would have already called it. It was the first thing to happen here in WA.

It also allows law enforcement actions that wouldn't be normally allowed. Problem is its only in force for 14 days and then has to be re-evaluated. That's why they held off as long as possible. Also politically once everything is back to normal the opposition has a tool to go after the government in power and accuse them of jumping the gun.

If people would have followed the advice and avoided congregating in public then we would still be under the former advisory. All it took was one nice sat for that to collapse. Hope everyone enjoys their vacation now. I would imagine that I'll be shut down tomorrow. While we are a 3 person operation, the warehouses that supply me are not. If I can't get parts then I'm done.

So now if I travel to NS, regardless if I even get out of my car...once I come back to NB I am ordered into 14 day self isolation with $1000 fine for noncompliance.

Not against it, just pretty wild our world has been flipped this upside down.

That's good and all, but NB isn't even testing people unless they have been out of province, or deemed to have contacted someone who did.

Yeah they typically only test if someone is showing symptoms or is at high risk of having contacted it. They gotta strike a happy medium between enough testing and not over testing. Fine line to walk :o
