Well would you look at that... that would have made life a LOT easier for my Mother-in-law who flew home from Scotland, quarantined for 2 weeks, had 5 days and then flew back to quarantine for another 2 weeks... (She was here for other things - but still)

Not with an expired Canadian one you can't. In order to do that you have to go through their licensing program as a n00b vs just providing your Canadian License and getting one in the UK. Trust me; it was well researched haha

Above link ranks US states vs Canadian provinces with COVID numbers. When I argue that Canada has been absolutely killing it with Coronavirus response, this is what I mean.

I actually think schools in NS can do really well in person. But... the teachers will strike and shut it all down. I can't say I blame them entirely but it's a bit of an over reaction.

I have friends who have temporarily moved from California to Chester just to enroll their daughter in school to avoid online schooling - they're going to be pissed! (yes, they're Canadian - same as me, working in the US on a Green Card).

I think schools will be fine but we should have over the top border enforcement where visitors are required to quarantine and there's huge fines if you don't

I think once it hits, its going to spread like wildfire. Hopefully not though. Boy is eager to get back to class. Same with wife, misses her kids.

That could be true, but I don't really know what it's like for him so it's hard for me to say if it's just an excuse or not. He's still being careful to distance, so it shouldn't make a difference anyway.

I think we'll see small outbreaks but they will be quickly contained. Now that we know what we are dealing with it should be manageable.... assuming travellers don't inundate us.

It will be hard - remember these are kids and we're going to be heading into regular seasonal cold/flu/etc season. Little Johnny in line to go into class with a runny nose? Oops, it was COVID.

They released some guidelines yesterday for school here in Alberta. Staggered entry, every grade starts on a different date. Need to isolate and get tested if they have any symptoms that include but are not limited to: Runny nose, Tired (Fatigued), Headache, Loss of ability to stay focused, Body Aches. So... Every kid in grade school during the winter and every teenager that ever existed. Parents have to hand in a signed copy of the checklist every day.

I think the regular cold/flu season is going to be majorly suppressed ... a victim of Covid-19 if you will

Yeah, Austrailia is seeing the fewest flu/cold cases in forever due to you know...people being careful, clean, and mask usage.

I guess my larger point is - you have all these kids going to school with the same symptoms as COVID. It's going to be a mess.

I'm staying glass half full. Ideally nobody will be in the classroom if they have any kind of symptoms of illness :o

It's amazing what fear will do. And... knowing what I know now about US politics, NY City was the primary area of the massive outbreak. As a city, it is primarily Democrat, and in general, the Democrats are more ones to follow good science and do the work to bring the numbers down.

Compare that to Florida which had and continues to have huge spikes. Nice Red State.

Classes are going to be pretty empty in the K-3 range at least. You should know this with your daughter - especially during the winter, they always have symptoms in line with COVID!
