NB tried that once, immediate backlash from businesses who couldn't afford to police it...guess we'll see how it works for NS

And that's life in Quebec now. You'll get used to it, or just stay home.

What about masks not being required in schools where you have between 20-28 (Elementary/ Jr High) and 32 (High school) kids in a class with no way to actually distance them in the class. I know Strang said 1m will suffice for schools (Which is BS if everyone else needs 2m) but you can not space desks with a 1m radius around them in a classroom with current caps. In HS most may have 1.5-2' between rows, but are stacked back to front in the row itself. There is no plan for reopening, other than we are sending everyone back 100% and see what happens

We have been mandatory masks for a while in WA now - a little but to get used to it. The holdouts get shamed into it pretty quickly. The problem in NS will be everyone saying “there aren’t any cases” thinking it’s all over.

Yeah I don't think mandatory masks will be an issue here. Already see a ton of them.

The mandatory masks will roll out and then they’ll lift the isolation period for the non bubble provinces I’m guessing

    Today's press release

Nova Scotia is reporting one additional death related to COVID-19, bringing the total to 64. A female in her 60s with underlying medical conditions died several weeks ago in the Eastern Zone. Her death has been under investigation since then to determine if COVID-19 was a factor. She was not a resident of a long-term care home.

[Edit: This reduces the number of resolved cases from 1,004 to 1,003]

    Today's press release

Reusable masks at public libraries, most provincial museums

Nova Scotians without ready access to non-medical masks can now get reusable, cloth masks free at all public libraries and 23 provincial museums.

“Many Nova Scotians will supply their own masks for use in indoor public places to protect one another from COVID-19,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “For those who can’t supply their own masks, we are making a limited number of reusable cloth masks available at provincial museum and public library sites across the province. We want to ensure everyone in Nova Scotia has easy access to a mask when and where they need it.”

Masks are available in both adult and youth sizes and are adjustable. Each person can request up to two masks for each member of their immediate family.

Depressing news out of Australia that numbers are going back up - attributing to cold weather, worst than the first wave. Scientists have already been warning about this - hope this doesn't play out around the world.

It's kind if irrelevant as anything other than a reminder that we are still susceptible. The people caught the virus somewhere else, and as long as they stay to themselves it's a non issue. It's like being shot in Dartmouth and making it over the bridge before calling 911. Dartmouth should still get the point.

I’m a member of a few “Canadians Living in the US” Facebook groups and hopefully they isolated better than the folks posting their “going back to Canada” stories. Almost all of them have a “stopped at Timmies” part to the story which makes me wonder if they understand what isolate or quarantine really means.

Probably. “What could it hurt?” attitudes.

My brother-in-law and his family just moved from the Yukon to NS and pulled out all the stops on their quarantine. It bothers me to watch others not take it seriously especially when I have my own plans to visit in the Fall. If people can’t follow the rules, I could see us getting blocked from visiting.

When you say quarantine you mean the 2 week isolation when they got there?

They did isolation but I actually am not sure if that was needed - Isolation vs Quarantine is a little confusing to me when I look at the Government websites.

So, I followed up with some folks posting these and they scared a photo of the information packet you're given when you cross the border and is does specifically call out that you can stop at a drive-thru if you need food. This led to a discussion on "need" vs. "want" that was interesting but it is within the guidelines. The original poster on that one said that they'd needed coffee for the long ride but had all the food they needed already in the car which seems reasonable, I guess. At the other end of the spectrum, someone chimed in that they drove in their van from Atlanta to Edmonton - took 3 days but that they slept in the van and even had a portable toilet - only time they were near others was getting gas (which is also permitted while you're getting to your final destination from the border, obviously).
