97 recoveries since yesterday. Active cases down to 108; this is the lowest it has been since March 29.
Oh im sure. If I worked in a hospital or somewhere at risk Im sure I'd shave it. But for going into sobeys I think im safe.
Interesting read on where we are at mentally with the isolation: https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/prog...n-third-quarter-phenomenon-has-begun/12190270
So will they lift the burn ban today or will McNeil extend it? Hoping for the former, expecting the latter. Personally I feel that while his intents are good, he's becoming a little too heavy handed lately. I'd really love the politicians to start remembering that while their jobs and pay are 100% safe, there are 100's of thousands of people in the province that are mentally drained because of the worries that come with that and need some low risk normalcy.
State of Emergency ends on the 17th ... wonder what they'll do there? I think it's kind of hard to keep that going when we are only get 1-5 new cases per day?
everytime i drive by Northwood, i get such an eerie feeling knowing whats happening behind those doors. Its good to see the curve starting to flatten though. Gives me hope for summer
I think they would be limited in border control, business openings and stay at home orders but I'm not 100%. Likewise though by extending it they are openning themselves up to official review, both political and legal down the road. I'm not sure if this means that a business negatively effected could try and sue them on the grounds that it was unnecessary or if it just opens up a charge from an opposing political party, but there are definitely reasons for the government to think twice before renewing.
There are three licensed long-term care homes and unlicensed seniors' facilities in Nova Scotia with active cases of COVID-19. Northwood in Halifax currently has 25 residents and 15 staff with active cases. One other facility has one staff member with an active case of COVID-19 and another facility has one resident with an active case. The province is renewing the state of emergency for two more weeks. The order will take effect at noon Sunday, May 17 and extend to noon Sunday, May 31, unless government terminates or extends it.
They have to keep the SOE in order to keep borders closed, it's the only way it can't be challenged as violation of Canada charter rights.

This article scares me. I’d been hoping having the virus once would mean immunity: https://www.seattletimes.com/nation...-sidelined-carrier-get-virus-for-second-time/
"It’s not clear whether cases like these are actual relapses, or if people tested negative without really being completely clear of the virus."
Yep, read that. I just would like to know more definitively if you are immune after you've had it - so far, "we don't know" is the general consensus.

And, 8 of those active cases outside of long term care are in hospital. So only 5 out in the community, who are hopefully properly isolating at home!
