WTF are you spending your money on then? With the money you say you make you shouldn't have a problem.

Acutally I find that with the higher resolution when viewing on the TV it looks worse.

resolution isn't much of a big deal on the tv's cause they are so low anyways unless you have an hdtv or something

640x480 will look fine on a regular, standard definition tv. it will look significantly crappier on a high definition tv.

if what you're looking to mostly do is watch movies and such that you download, best thing would be a set top box type thing

this is an example of one http://www.provis.com.au/products/consumer/showcenter.htm

i haven't tried any of them myself yet, but i'm starting to seriously consider it since you can even connect them through wireless lan in some cases

since you'd be looking to get a pci vidcard anyway which is starting to get harder and harder to find, that might be an alternative which probably wouldn't be all that much more expensive at this point if at all

Pun: Don't waste your time and money on a card you'll never be able to use again once you get a new computer. Wait it out, and buy a full computer with a good AGP 8x card that has TV Out. PCI cards are WAY over priced for what you get.

Basically, if you even managed to find a $50 PCI card with TV out, it would be like finding a $5 - $10 AGP card with TV out. Useless in other words. PCI is out of date, so you'll pay way more than it's worth.

Don't waste the money you have on something you don't need, and most likely won't need anyway.

PS> 640x480, set your display settings in Windows to it. Now hold a screen from a screen-window up to your monitor. What you see there, would be what you'd see on the TV if you're lucky with a PCI card.

Hey Pun,I'm selling my All in wonder video card.It will give you your TV out and it is PCi and 32 mb.You could also feed video from a camcorder into it if you pick up a cable off Ebay.
Give me 40 bucks and it is yours.
