well, driving on the highway a few days ago all was well. road were fine and we were heading home at about 105/110 kmph. next thing is we can here a little ticking noise, it wasnt to loud so we didnt think anything of it. next thing the oil pressure light flickers on then 3 seconds later SNAP ! BANG ! DONE ! heres the pics as we took at apart last night. notice the twisted piston in the #3 cylinder look around and youll see numorous holes and cracks and missing peices of the block http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/incognito/civicmotor/fucked%201.5%206.JPG[img] [img]http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/incognito/civicmotor/fucked%201.5%207.JPG Few shots of peices as they came out and there ya have it, a 91 Si motor blown to distruction. new *used* motor goes in the car tonight, have to see if this one is a little better.
wow.......only took ya 5 beer to tear down an engine took me a couple of 24's just to oull my truck engine out
haha I was thinking the same thing. I saw a pattern there....as parts came out, beer appeared. haha Man it took my ex half a 24 to but a motor in one day, and 'took me Mike's Hard Lemonade from Noon to midnight
Hahahaha. . . send another Honda motor to the grave, thats sweet. What happened to her? Last time one like that it was because the guys that did the bottom end put the crank bearings in backwards.
What did the oil pump look like? Looks to me like a dirty old engine. a few more oil changes early on might have saved it a bit longer
But you could re create it by taking a hamster in a running wheel, spin it fast and then bring the wheel to an quick stop.............
Yikes. . . thats pretty bad coming form a guy who has/used to have a Honda himself. Its blown up, thats all that matters though!
referring to that engine in general. And yes actually i own several hondas. But it is the truth, torqueless wonders, but hasn't seen to slow me down in the past..
psssstttt... i think your motor is broken, looks kinda like an oil leak... shitty deal dude... that caused some serious destruction.
haha, well the beers were there cause we were thirsty, 6 beer between 4 people wasnt a good thing. the pics do no justice for the damage of the motor, theres peices of main bearing that you cant see that ending up beeing as thin as a peaice of paper. theres peices of end caps stuck in the block and so on. it exploded good. as for how it happened we really dont know yet. we thing some silicon might have went up into the oil pump and jammed that up. whoever had the car befor my buddy must have used 2 bottles of silicon on the oil pan, it was sickining and stupid the amount of silicon on it, there was plenty of oil that came out of the motor. but Id say by looking at the parts it was a time bomb and on its way out for a while, just by the amount of wear and scoring and such its been fucked for a while.
