    NHL dabbles in bigger nets, and they're shaped like purists' tears

    The rules are just fine.
    I'll lose it if they change the size of the goaltending equipment.... again.

    i dont play hockey, nor do I even watch it.

    but i would be sour if I trained my whole life with a size net, or size equipment... then they changed it on me.

    " Hey basketballs players, the ball is now 2 inches smalled in diameter, and the net in square"

    "hey golfers, your cup in now smaller"

    it wouldnt fly

    The players changed the size of goaltending equipment themselves so much they had to make rules not change them.

    Goals are pretty good these days could be more, NHL is dropping the ball on suspensions for hitting others with intent to injure.

    I don't know how many more goals per game they want. Tonight during an intermission in the Leafs vs Bruins game they were talking about oval shaped posts to deflect more shots into the net.

    Look at the scores tonight though. 5 of the 9 games have 7 goals or more combined scored and 2 on those 4 that aren't are still in progress. Come watch some of the Dal intramural league games, we can rack up quite the score in some of these games and we only play 2 20 min periods.

    The more the NHL tinkers with the rules the less and less I care for the league as a whole.

    I don't know why they keep talking about this shit. The NHL has been around since 1917. The sport is strong, and amazing how it is. I know we bitch everytime they talk about making changes, but this one here is pretty big. I don't want to watch a 30-40 game of hockey. There is nothing 1-1 game, it keeps the fans on the edge of the seats.

    Too many changes to make the sport entertaining for the American cities that cannot support their teams. Just let those team die off, and cut back on the amount of teams so the talent isn't so watered down. That would make a big difference to the sport.

    I think they should make the nets smaller for the Oilers after last night.

    The only rule they need to change is the instigator, this alone will elimate all those stupid ass fucking hits

    Another thing....

    What is the most popular professional sport in the world? Soccer

    How many goals per game do you see in Soccer matches? rarely more than 4 or 5 most games end 1-0 or 2-1

    So clearly, goals do not equal better gameplay and excitement

    well that's kinda true buuuut...

    we are talking about americans not europeans. Sure Americans like soccer but not as much as the East.

    Garry fucknut thinks more goals will be more exciting for the fans in Emerika.

    The fact that they have NHL games on versus and not ESPN is a joke

    anyone else catch his interview with Ron at the allstar game?

    I'm pretty sure he's a robot:)

    I often wondered why in football a TD is 6 points. Why 6? Why not just one? American game so they want the high scores?

    Enough to get Americans to actually watch the games, so they can get American television deals and more revenues.

    Great idea... lets change the scoring structure.

    Single = .1166667 points
    Safety = .3333 points
    Field goal = .5 points
    Touchdown = 1 point
    PAT = .1166667 points
    2 pt conv = .3333 points
    drop kick = .5 points

    Sorry, I dont watch football. Have no idea of how the scoring system works. Thats why I asked why a TD was 6 points.

    Yeah, those redneck americans have attention deficit disorder so they need something to keep them tuned into a 3 period hockey game. Although, it makes me wonder how they can watch cars driving around a track 200 times for a couple of hours. They should introduce something to nascar to make it more exciting too :kekeke:

    :lol: - I think a lot of people secretly watch Nascar to see the big crashes.

    ....and the game of Hockey has been the best it has been in YEARS. The instigator rule needs to be changed (in combination with some sort of tie-down helmet), but that's about it.

    ....and Luongo is a big Italian baby.
