Are you implying that without O&G Alberta is just an exciting place as NS, but for some reason the O&G makes us more exciting?

Implying that O&G is what made Alberta an attractive place for almost every Nova Scotian that moved there. Without it, I doubt you'd have seen that kind of migration.

Still am, even older man... which is why I'm calling you out for continually trying to change the subject in order to avoid the debate. Stay on topic, it's quite easy to follow your strafes and backtracks after all. ;)

And you would say that it has nothing to do with higher wages and more availability for all jobs? Or that from a tax perspective Albertans still keep more of their earned money in their own pockets? How about the extensive provincial and national park system that offers everything from skiing and hiking to biking and boating? Perhaps it is the general better quality of life and options of activities aside from drinking at the pub, drinking in a garage or playing board/video games?

BeakerBeaker original comment is very fair. After all you do live in a city that puts hight restrictions on buildings. And a province that has made all in bets about future prosperity on numerous things.
    • Fishing - We'll fish the fuck out of the grand banks fish always come back
    • Sable Island - We'll be the next Alberta
    • Call Centers - Lets give these US companies tons of tax breaks so they employ our people, promise they will stay once credits expire
    • Ship contract - We'll all be making unionized scrillions and home prices will sky rocket
    • Space Port - Well we didn't think about how we get the cargo to NS, the roads are shit and the port can't hold super max ships.

The higher wages, more availability of all jobs and lower taxes is directly tied to O&G. What would everyone be doing there without it? Farming? Forestry? There's lots of great national/provincial parks here in all the other provinces that offer the same activities.

Great list but Alberta would be doing the same thing without O&G :o

Sorry forgot to add drinking on a boat/ATV or other motorized machine that leaks oil and creates noise pollution and generally destroys natural habitats. But hey, you don't make the oil just use it.

Obviously I'm being overly dramatic to prove my point. And there are lots of great things to do in NS, sadly it's very seasonal and at least in respect to outdoor activities subpar.

You can say O&G and I will say the tax advantage and greater entrepreneurial spirit. If there wasn't O&G yeah farming which is already a huge part of the economy would still be here. Not much by way of forests, but film is huge and AB is giving BC a run for their money with big name films and TV shows.

To each their own, everyone always thinks they have the nicest yard on the block. I think for the most part the AB crew has been pretty quite over the last few years about taking pot shots. No need to show the one truly great Nova Scotia export, haterism.

I will say from my perspective Alberta seems like somewhere I'd visit before NS just in terms of nature, shit to do, economy... and cowboys. Mostly the cowboys.

Fun fact, they have the highest rate of homosexuality in the nation. Triple the next closest province.

There's seasonal activities in every province, but to each their own I'm not gonna argue about it.
