Does anyone know of a Canadian retailer for HT cables similar to monoprice? I have no prioblems ordering from them If i have to but would rather save a few bucks or hassle of cross border shopping if possible. I has a need for: 12 foot HDMI 12 foot component video 12 foot optical toslink 12 foot S-video
If you were in Halifax I'd give you a 12 foot component video cable...I bought them in bulk (sale bin)
Not for the projector yet...have to finish the room before I can get er done. This is for the TV in the living room which sits atop of the fireplace (electric). All my old cables are 6 feet and worked fine when I had everything in an entertainment unit...HT, Sat receiver now sit in a small centre on the floor and shit won't reach up to the Mantle.
I bought a 25' DVI cable a little while back from Tiger Direct. Pretty simple and fast delivery. I've yet to use it though
I don't think I got hit with customs charges when I ordered from monoprice. At the time I bought two 5's and two 8's. Came in a few days too.
Same here. Made a few orders from them, arrived fast with no extra cost. I would just buy from them, they are cheaper then any stores around here unless you have connections at local stores.
I wish I would have known about monoprice before getting ass raped by the prices of HDMI cables around here.
Monoprice ships using USPS. I've ordered form them a hand full of times and have never had to pay duty or brokerage fees.
I would imagine that you get charged sales tax at the border? UPS worldwide saver would take care of brokerage/duty and be a faster method than USPS.
I've ordered twice from Monoprice and never got hit with any charges. My orders in the $40 range, so that helps too. Shipping was fast too.
UPS is notorious for ridiculous brokerage fees. Even compared with FedEx and DHL, everything I get from UPS was about double in broker fees.
UPS Worldwide saver is $5 more than the fastest USPS service, is guaranteed 1-3 days and includes all brokerage/duty if applicable.
monoprice ships with USPS and marks on the packaging that it is a "gift" so it goes through the border with no brokerage fees. I've ordered about 3 or 4 times and have never been hit with anything and cant match their prices here in Halifax anywhere.
the "gift" thing doesnt always work now, and hasnt for a few years. Ive bought things and they were marked as gifts and got nailed. I think its more of a usps thing then a "gift" thing.
I find it odd that a legitimate company that does business on the scale that monoprice does would mark cross border items as "gifts". Something like that would be caught on to quick by the powers that be and they would get raped by an Audit.
So I forgot to update this thread. Got all the cables I needed plus wall mounts for my front speakers for LESS than the cost of what a 15 foot HDMI would have been locally lol Long live monoprice.
wtf? monoprice wasn't even expensive to ship? how much to you plan on saving. It's dirt cheap as it is.
