So I'll hopefully be getting a new bike when I get out to Calgary in May and I'm just wondering if theres any shops to avoid, or ones that you've had luck with.
Avoid: Pro-Am Calgary Motorsports The guys at Walt Healy and Blackfoot have always been great to me. I've got to go into Blackfoot in the next month or so, and get them to order my gear in for me. What are you looking to buy?
Calgary Motorsports = die They agreed on a price for an R1 with me (I made a lowball offer, and they accepted it), stupid me, didn't have the cash on me, so I went to the bank and got it. Came back 30 minutes later, and they had "sold" it while I was gone to the bank. They really just decided not to sell it for as low as they had agreed, but hung a "sold" sign on it to get them off the hook. Same bike was still in their showroom a month and a half later... I've heard lots of other bad issh about them too...
I gave them a large deposit for a mortorcycle they told me was arriving all winter last year, that didn't show up. Two days before they finally admitted it wasn't coming, they said "oh yeah, we are getting a large shipment of them in the next couple of days." By the time they told me the truth they were sold out everywheres else.
Oh. Hahah, maybe it was. The one that you said was by your place, when I asked someone to go check it out for me? I cant remember...
Pretty sure that was Pro-Am. Calgary motorsports does mostly used stuff. They're right next to each other on Edmonton Trail though...
Thanks everyone. I'll most likely be looking at a GSXR750, maybe 600 or possibly a ZX6R. Not 100% set yet, might look into an SV1000. Still all up in the air and will most likely come down to price and what I'm willing to spend.
Don't know yet, if I got "new" I'll probably look into left overs depending on prices. This will be my 4th season riding street.
Stopped in blackfoot two years ago while on a trip. The salesman knew without a doubt that I was not buying and still shot the shit with me about the Aprillias that we can't get here. That speaks volumes to me.
+1 for Blackfoot. No experience with the others. Dealt with Walt Healy? over the phone, seemed like good heads.
The guys at Walt Healy know their shit. I've been in a few times, and just shot the shit with some of their staff for an hour or so. A few of their staff are guys who either do or did race semi-pro. Blackfoot or Walt Healy would be my first stops...
