Has anyone on here fired one before? Military issued semi/auto 5.57mm rifle

I haven't fired one yet, but hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be getting to the range.
    Looks like a balanced firearm

Don't get your hopes up. They are ok. Nothing to write home about.

Back on topic. The first time I fired one I pulled the trigger and said "shit". Because it was clunky and gay.

    Mini-14 > C7 > C8.

the mp5's are nice, i wouldnt think they'd be any good at much range, but you can group a whole clip pretty small at 50m

Chose your trade carefully and ask people in the military what they think of the trade.

    This was my weekend:
-Show up, draw weapons, get drunk.
    -Wake up, drive to range.
-Proceed to shoot 1000+ rounds in instinctive shooting scenarios.
    -Clean rifle.
    -Supper.
    -Get drunk on free beer.
Oh there are much much worse rifles to clean than a C7 my son.
    Infantry or fail.

C7 isn't anythign special. I don't mind it, and I think it is good for its purpose. It is quite accurate for a Semi.

Nope, this sounds like the WNSR? want to be boys. Obviously no leadership if this was your weekend and it was allowed to occur.
Back to the C7, it is no comparision to the FNC1- 7.62 but the C7 is a cal widely used.

Was the WNSR. The Sgt. Major, Col, and two of the platoon commanders where there and three platoon warrants. This was a smoker weekend. First one we have had in the last four years with the exception of the soldiers appreciation dinner.

As far as wanting to be boys I am not sure what you are getting at. We are all boys except the one girl, and she is close enough.

Grant, I think you know exactly what he's saying.

I thought the definition of the word leadership was the "art of influencing human behaviour to accomplish an objective, as determined by the leader ?"

If the intent was for the "boys" (Read: Men - If your old enough to serve you old enough to be called a man) to have some fun at night while still accomplishing valuable training during the day, it sounds like they accomplished the objective, as determined by the leader. Without anyone getting hurt might I had.

As professionals one would assume they know their limits and when to stop for the night, and as leaders others are both burdened and blessed with the responsibility to make decisions about who should and should not be on the firing point on any given day.

Afterall, thats why there are systems in place, such as morning TOET's, to ensure people have sufficiently hauled their head out of their asses for the day. Including anyone who might be sick, unfamiliar with the weapon, incompetent, or lacking body control.

Oh I know - and he deserved it, but I can't stand people who fling mud for the sake of it, when they wern't there to see what went on.
