ok, for any of you who feel compelled to buy music online don't use bonfire or puretracks, they just take your money and lock the songs down to one pc.
the site ive been using is based out of russia, totally legal and you pay with paypal (so no worries about them gettig a chance to steal your cash)

it works pretty well, you pay 10 US for 1 gig of downloads and then when you go to buy the music you get to choose the encoding size and quality (so you can get tons for your ten bucks)
so far ive downloaded 9 albums and i still have 3.50ish left, most albums are around 75 cents US. keep in mind this is actually legel too lol (and fast, i hit 200+ k/sec on it)

    www.allofmp3.com
the best quality/price encoing option is under advanced then use the "lame alt preset standart"
feel free to drop me a line if you have any q's

they also have a software interface for downloads which works really well, and has some cool features, my favorite is download queueing. open the software on your desktop and it logs you in, then if you are at work when you go to the website and order the album it will be downloaded to your home PC
next best feature is there is no digital right scrap so you cn use them on any pc you want!

It's probably worth the money to do this actually... I'm getting sick of trying to get shit from Kazaa now. It's more of a pain in the ass then anything. That price sounds pretty good from other sites i've heard about. Aren't some places like .99 cents a song or something....

YEAH most I've seen is 99cents a song or $13ish for 12 songs. I can buy the disc for almost that much new in stores, not worth it to me.

WinMX rocks. I use it, a LOT better than *shudder* KaZaA. Too much BS on Kazaa, WinMX is mainly people who don't know about it, so they only share mostly good stuff (I've had 1 wrong file in about 1000).

I'll stick with Bittorrent.I usually wait about a half an hour for any CD I want.generally get them the same week they hit the stores and it doesn't cost me a cent.

Two things that I so far haven't been able to bring myself to get off of Kazaa/BitTorrent/etc is antivirus software and firewalls. I just don't know if someone's been tinkering with it or something.

I used to get all my AV from Kazaa but have since started getting it from BT. I wouldn't worry too much about the ones you get from BT.I might worry about Kazaa ones now. I just got Norton Corporate V9 a coupel of days ago, gonna try it out soon.I have been using corporate version 8 for nearly a year now.

I've been using allofmp3.com now since this post first came up. Unreal site, can't say enough good things about it. At 128 it's about 35-50 cents an album. I had been downloading 320 quality songs but tried 128 and noticed no difference. Does anyone know if the quality at 128 is much worse? I can't tell.
