I'm wanting to replace my old Trek, and am trying to decide what bikes to look at/try. I'm wanting to stay under $750. Leaning towards a hardtail 29er, but a 27.5 would probably suit me just as well.

Mainly groomed trails, pavement, and won't likely see a TON of use, but I want something that'll last a while, and be capable enough to get off of the groomed trails once in a while too.

    Currently considering:
    Ghost Kato 1
    Trek Marlin 5
    Norco Storm 7.2
    Specialized Hardrock
    Giant ATX
    Kona Lanai

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

Can't comment on that specific model, but I've been using Kona bike for 7-8 years and love them.

At $750, it's a tight budget. All of those that you've listed are a decent bike - I would go for the one that has the best components to go with it. I have a bias towards Specialized, though. :)

I wouldn't count out a used Kijiji deal either. There's always people with buyers regret.

Check with Craig, he had a nice Specialized, might want to unload it.

I would go with the Giant or Trek myself.

I owned a hardrock and sold it after a year. It's fine for the road but was junk even on gravel.

Thanks man. Mine won't see too much heavy use, but I'd like a semi-solid bike that'll last a while. I test rode a Trek Marlin 6 on the weekend, and it felt good. Leaning that way at the moment.

Picked up a Trek Marlin 6 last night. LBS had the 2017's on sale, so I grabbed one.
