"Volkswagens are designed to get you from Frankfurt to Berlin on the Autobahn at high rates of speed safely. Most Japanese vehicles are designed to be economy cars to get you from the grocery store to the vinyl sticker shop without burning allot of gas." Sorry I had to. Ryan
"The BIG difference between sex for money and sex for free is that sex for money usually costs a lot less."
Most Japanese car makers have produced a super car type sports car (honda nsx, mazda rx7, toyota supra, nissan skyline).. what has VW ever came out with to compete with these? Stan
And also VW owns Audi. There is alot of Power house Audi's. VW is starting to make alot of fast cars too. They are changing all there base models So on and so forth. Remember CannonBall 3000. Check it out yo uwill see some crazy Audi'd in those videos. They have one audi with like close to 1000hp. Its so powerful it breaks off a wheel, it acctually tears the rim apart and the hub of the rim is still bolted on the car!
The Gallardo has a Audi derived V10. That's pretty fast. I love my honda.... i really do. But some of those VW derived engines are wicked. The new Bentley GT, Buggati Veyron, etc.
I would think a GTI is in the same class as the Supra and Rx-7 (which really are not super-cars), no? If not, I bet this would beat any of the cars you mentioned above.... It's the Volkswagon W12......0-60 in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 350 klms. Leviathan
Name a Honda that has as much class and power as any new audi out there. What factory honda comes turbo? last time I check I dont think any did. IMO no honda cant come close to an audi and a few VW's out there. How common is it to have a 6spd 4wd Honda, I dont think its very common is it? I'm not being sarcastic I'm serious. I dont know a shit load about Hondas but I know enough about Euro cars to know that they can compeat with any Jap Scrap easily.
That pic Leviathan posted above reminded me. VW does own Lamborghini as well. Whast honda got to compeat like that? The NSX? pfft! And you dont see VW making Lawn mowers do you? HAHA
did I say Honda was better then Audi? Nope I said I think Honda makes better cars then VW... well except for a "few VW's"
HAHA, Hey well Honda makes Acura........Wait.............Acura's cars are pretty quick as well, ..................
ahh whatever man. I give up. But I know VW is better ! check this out. Thats a factory 1989 VW GTI 2.0L 16v factory turbo AWD. Thats pretty good for 1989. Only produced in Europe!
Honda makes great engines and thier racing heritage is very good (look at F1).......but - that doesn't mean a Civic or an Accord is an F1 car. Civics and Accords are the best at what they were built for, and that is family travel and those trips to the grocery store. I know a civic can be made to go fast in a straight line, but so can a Mini-van. A true sports car has to be an all-around performer. That is why I don't get why people take Civics and try and make them "look" fast. It's like when you were a kid and would put a hockey card in the spokes of your bike to make it sound like a motorbike - sure it SOUNDS like a motorbike, but everyone can plainly see it's not. Same goes for Civics with huge fart-can and wings and shit. You ain't foolin' nobody with that stuff. No matter how many stickers, wings, body-kits, etc you chuck on it, it's still a Civic. The only people who would be fooled into thinking a Civic is a sports car are blind people. Now, with a bunch of money - a Civic can be made into a real sports car - but why spend the money on a Civic? Start with a car that has more of a "speed-based" chassis and go from there. Let's put it this way - if I was buying horses to run at horseraces, I would look at certain breeds and go from there. Why would I take a Donkey, change the way it looks and try and pass it off as a racehorse? Leviathan
So, so untrue. What makes a car or chassis "speed based", whatever that is? Truth is, a Civic has one of the best Chassis/suspension platforms out there for good handling. It has a fairly stiff chassis and EXELLENT suspension goemetry, better geometry than 95% of the cars out there. You can make one extremely fast around a race track or auto-x course for not alot of money, I have about $1000 into my suspension and it has made more than a few owners of "real" sports cars wimper, and my car doesn't have much power at all. Stu's GSR can make these same owners outright cry like babies. I kinda like the fact people think Civics are slow grocery getters, especially at the track.
Kinda funny how all these people were talking about racing prowess and "chassis built for speed" and such... I think Paul is the only one in this thread with any real racing experience....
Yes, and show me a Honda that sells for $1M.... glad to see you people can make realistic comparisons and have a rational conversation.... /sarcasm
