Going to be getting a bundle service with either Bell or Eastlink.

I'd love to have a PVR thingy, never had one before. We want that, good internet and a phone service.

Which would you go with Bell or Eastlink?

Also, I dont want to be paying through the ass for this service either.

Because of the censoring of Sun TV News I just keep a basic Eastlink bundle for my locals, and a Shaw dish for the good stuff.

It would be nice if we had the choice of picking and choosing our own stations, instead of being forced to take 90% crappy channels.

i use aliant at work and the speeds are junk, not even 1mbps, meanwhile at home on eastlink i have consistent 17-20mbps. both new computers, both wireless connections.

Good to know. Aliant is still DSL based right?

Aliant just launched Fiber to the home (FiberOP 2.0 is how they're branding it), so complaints of slow speeds with Aliant are probably moot.

I'm currently with Eastlink, but considering a switch to Aliant.

If I could, I'd go with Bell.

Bell Satellite for TV, FibreOP for internet.

But, I can't put up a dish in this building and I've got a pretty good deal with Eastlink right now so I'm not changing anything until the deal is over.

My parents made the switch from Eastlink to Bell a week ago because our neighbor works for Bell. They've have nothing but issues ever since, as had another one of our neighbors.

They can't connect to basic cable so if they want a tv to work, they need to have a digital box which is shitty imo because it costs per unit after 3. Only one of their tv's was working up until today and the internet speed is nothing special, I couldn't get anything to load tonight at all.

So far, they've have nothing good to say, especially coming from Eastlink where they really had no issues.

Bell has been a pain since I've had it.

What does the 2.0 mean for eastlink?

That's because it's digital cable and not analog, it requires a receiver decode the signal.

eastlink tv is kinda the suck. the internet is good.

got rid of our on demand and a few other channels to make the bill more reasonable. now it seems all we have is basic cable plus HD channels. not really worth it, so thinking about doing a switch or getting rid of the cable all together

We switched from Eastlink to Fiber op, speeds are fine on internet, but I just surf, email, work stuff. We had more issue with teh phone, caller ID not set up, phone wouldn't ring; they had tyo send someone out twice in the first week to fix that, but its been up and good for a few weeks now; Had to reset the digital box the other night, but not a big issue.
Price wise it was the same as Eastlink, and we had been finding eastlink sluggish in our old area ; Cole HR

Still no real choice for channels though; If only I could build my own package ...

I have the Bell Fibre 2.0 TV & 30 internet. Love it, no complaints at all. I have had no issues with sound cutting out, or video screw up like I did with Eastlink.

So if you Google "Eastlink vs Bell" internet, this is the fourth link.

Probably a good place for me to voice my displeasure with the Eastlink 80 Usage Based Billing eh?

My grandparents, my parents and I all cancelled our Eastlink services today due to their abhorrent customer service. Between the three households we were spending over $600 per month.

Last week there was a big cable outage from Porters Lake down this way. Next day my folks still had no On demand. Mom called, they told her to bring in her box for replacement. Drove the 45min to the store, they gave her this.

After spending an hour with tech support trying to get it running, they scheduled a service call for the next day. Buddy came, said they keep handing out those and other model boxes that don't work in areas. He said this was the 5th box he had to replace that day because they give out the wrong models. I had the same thing happen to me a year or so ago. You'd think they'd have something like this sorted out.

To give you a PEI answer.. I have Eastlink..I live in a rural area, my download speeds are great.. (son was downloading from steam last week @ 5-6 mbps). RIght now we have a special deal for 6 months for eastlink 40, $39.95. I have bell satellite for tv (lowest package as we d/l or stream everything). Haven't had an issue with either one.
My parents had bell (in rural Charlottetown) and made the switch to eastlink and the speeds were much better with eastlink then bell. I have no opinion on FibreOP but have been told it is awesome, unfortunately its not available where I live.

Bell Fibre Op is a capped internet service so if you do a lot of downloading be careful because if you go over it will cost $$$$$$$

Eastlink has a 20Mbps service that is unlimited downloads and it goes 40 & 100 capped at 250GB

Eastlink has the best Internet & phone

Bell Sat TV is better as you can have up to 6 receivers at only $3 extra (not per box)

Wrong. You can have up to 6 receivers, but you either have to rent, or buy them.
To rent: $2.75/month for SD receiver, $5.53/month for HD receiver, $13.86/month for HD PVR. You own the receiver after 36 months.
To buy: $199 for HD receiver, $499 for HD PVR. You can't buy the SD receivers anymore, unless you get a used one from eBay, kijiji, etc.

No cap listed in my FibreOp contract, there is a "soft" or "normal usage guidelines" for 250GB but I've had no issues and I use a lot of bandwidth.
