It would be better if we could see what the suspect is doing when the officer is telling him he needs his drivers license and proof of insurance. Is he just sitting there and not moving? Or is he actually reaching for his papers?

I do think it was a little quick for the officer to get that aggressive. On the other hand, when he tells the suspect to put his hands on the vehicle and he doesn't, the officer is probably fearing a fight, and being the only officer on the scene, I can see why he would pull the taser.

dude c'mon, all that happened in 45 seconds. The cop is an ass. He said he was hypoglycemic and cranky from not eating.

Like I said, it was a little quick to get that aggressive. But think about it, if a cop is that pissed off that he is going to ask you to get out of your car after 15 seconds, I'm probably not going to piss him off anymore, aka by not placing my hands on the back of the car. Suck it up and be this officer's bitch, and deal with it with his superior's later.

Just another story of a cop wanting to see someone getting tazed. End of story.

Fuck if these idiots just did what they were told to do, didn't act shady and suspicious then they would never get tased. Why the hell would you argue with a cop? This instance the officer seemed a little gung ho, but if the idiot driver had of just passed him his license and insurance there would have been no problem. I've yet to see a video of someone getting tased by the police who didn't in all honesty deserve it.

A friend of mine is a coast guard. He tells me that they are trained that the taser is not for non-compliance. He says it is useless in these situations, and will more often than not cause them to escalate when they would not have. He is quite confident he can do with words what a taser could never achieve.

Better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

Oh I agree - I support the taser one hundred percent. I just wonder about some of the tasers users...

Yea I guess proper training on it's use as well as training on how to keep situations such as this from escalating are critical.

So have a lot of officers who have been shot and killed on the job. Better be safe than sorry.

This all stemmed from a problem in communication-skills.

The driver appeared confused by the verbose and "I have no time for this" attitude of the cop....and when he stepped out of the car, the cop was kinda pushy with him and this appears to have confused the driver moreso.

Normally, the driver would simply just do what is asked of them, but the cop was so upset, it threw the driver off. All the cop needed to do was quickly explain that he needs the drivers hands on the rear of the car or he will use the taser for non-compliance.....let the driver know what is going on....the cop seemed to do everything so fast that the driver was confused and this escalated the situation.

    My dad put it best.

Some people just don't know how to throw a punch anymore.

I agree that cops should be careful when dealing with people like this but this was a time where verbal commands and soft/hard hand control would have been more appropriate.

I haven't watched the video yet, however by the sounds of the story the poor guy didn't deserve to be tased.

This cop was an ass...He didn't give limits or consequences..which are required....He didn't give this man a chance to be non compliant...This is not how the Police are trained...

I can't until I'm at home. I can go around the firewall here and watch the video, but I don't have audio. I'll watch it when I get home.

I watched it now. That was uncalled for. The poor guy was trying to figure out why the cop was being such a dick. And cops wonder why they have such a bad rep.

    :kekeke:

I'm sorry but that wasn't a cop, that was a PIG.
