I am far from a photographer (and I mean far) but I think I would photoshop out the lighthouse reflection in the water. It draws my eyes away for some reason.

(I mean no disrespect, I think that's a badass photograph and totally bow down to your skills )

    Thanks.

Thanks. Not going to clone out the reflection. I could have made the shot entirely about the Aurora, but that's just part of the equation. Foreground first, sky second.

Cool. Well, a 36mp CMOS sensor set to iso800 is actually quite receptive to the faint light and colours of the Aurora. I could see the bands of light visually, but not the colours.

So what you're saying is that your better camera makes you a better photographer? And if I bought the same camera as you, I'd be as good a photographer as you?

Takes a hell of a lot more than a good camera to be a good photographer.

Realistically, a good photographer can use any camera. Its all about composure and getting what you want out of the scene. A good camera just allows you to get more out of the photograph than a lesser camera.

I know people that have DSLR cameras and still use Auto mode. You might as well have a fancy point and shoot if you're only going to use auto mode. You need to know about Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO to get the most out of your camera.

I know he's being sarcastic but this is one of my pet peeves. So many people think they can be good photographers just because they have a DSLR camera. I dabble in it but i know i'm nowhere near as good as Shaun or Mosher. I'm sure it gets annoying to them too considering how much time they devote to it.

I edit everything. RAW format is flat.

    Something like that, yes. :hsugh:

It used to annoy me. I just don't pay attention anymore... too busy with ideas spinning around in my head. :eek7:

I thought it was making a dick statement, came back hours later and realized I pulled the trigger incorrectly. I very rarely -rep (something like 1400+ to 200- or whatever) but because I appreciate artists and skilled people I took offense to it. I apologize and have since reversed my rep from negative to positive.
