...of all days in the year, this is the day I refuse to spend a single penny on.

Personally it's nothing but one huge marketing ploy to get consumers to buy marked up goods. (chocolates, roses, etc...)

besides why would I need a specific day to tell me " Hey dude, this is the day you need to show your SO how much you love her"

Hey!! thanks...got some relationship advice too while you're at it?

True about the marketing ploy, but isn't that with every holiday? It's the thought that counts.

yes, please do , because I will know that you are the only unique, original love bird for me.

I'm sure that'll be the idea of the century. just wait till the others see it, they'll be jealous and do the same next year.

You mean like Christmas, Easter, and Halloween? :kekeke:

...and don't forget that on Valentines day, you should buy expensive Diamonds (cause they are SO rare and costly) and if you buy an engagement ring, it has to cost the equivalent of 3 months of your salary, cause that's what "they" say.

I've never done anything for Valentine's Day outside of what I might normally do any day of the week. I agree with you, Shorty! Flowers? Forget it. I can't believe flower shops get away with jacking the price around the day.

*the following is my opinion* I don't celebrate Halloween, but as for Easter and xmas - we Italians spend it together as a whole family. Hell besides the excess food at the table, I don't see how easter is any different from any other family gathering.
this is also a time when I'll see certain family members; for only these occasions only.
Would kinda sucked if I showed up to xmas dinner giftless eh..???

also if you are shopping for xmas gifts on Dec 23rd - you've got issues. try shopping in late nov. where gifts aren't marked up.

I might grab a card, for the sole fact I have hockey that night and it is more of an apology than anything.

Ya, Brian bought me flowers before he left. If he had been home I likely wouldn't have got them. More like a I'm sorry I am going to miss your birthday and v'day..and I am leaving you with a sick dog for three weeks. :kekeke:

Take your snowmobile, go into a field, make a big heart then colour it with rabbit blood, leaving the carcasses all around for her to make stew with.

we show each other that we love each other in our own ways daily...we don't really do much out of the ordinary...we've done the go out for $$$ dinner thing in an overbooked rest and get horrible service thing etc but in recent years we've kept it pretty low key and just turned our phones off, sharded a nice meal together at home and ignored the world for a while...
