Anyone see how quick the comptech sports Acura tsx at sebring today? Man not bad at all, considering i found the car gut less.
They say it has a better suspension setup than the RSX and the engine has a lot more upgrade potential. Looks pretty sharp in full race trim too.
The is no way to compare a WC car against a stock street car, the Realtime TSX's are well over 100k US each to build.
Thats absolute bs paul, come on. Its the same basic platform, engine yes is modified, but the ivtec engines are not known to produce a whole lot of power...
Exac tly. The old Type R Integra's were said to have around 240hp, and they are very slow compared to last years RSX and this years TSX. These things are pure race cars.
I just got back from Sebring last night, and yes the TSX is a sweet car. But the definite show stopper of the weekend was the whole Cadillac CTS-V program They are built by Pratt & Miller who builds the ALMS Vettes, and shares the same drivetrain as the Z06 and is built on the C6 platform. Brand new car and they go out, set pole, and then win the race
caddy > all i bet he was rocking leather with the ac on for the race while everyone else sweated.........
Serious bling for that car. I think their whole setup there this weekend had to be over 2 million bucks. they had 2 big rig haulers, full awning and tiling, about 20 or so crew guys all decked out in new shit, Motorola radios, pit carts, everything you could think of they had. Very impressive.
I especially like how andy came from dead last and ended up second. That dude was laying down impressive lap times. Seeing how sebring is mostly a horsepower track i would like to see how the cts v's do on the handling road courses like road america.
i Think caddy is heading in the right direction with the cts v. 405hp, 6 speed mannual from the z06 corvette, and rear wheel drive. Besides the fact its based on the opel platform and has european influence....... Just wait till that new m5 comes to town, that thing will have some serious bling as well. Got some vid's of it, and all i can say is the engine note is enough to make my heart skip a beat.....
The only problem with Pilgrim coming from dead last is that it shows exactly how out classed the competition is compared to the caddies. They are actually running the ALMS corvette 700hp engine, and were given a shit pile of breaks by SCCA on body panel mods, subframe mods, weight etc. And it won't matter what track they go to in the present trim. Lime rock is next, its like a 1.5 mile track, and the caddy's will rule there too. Hmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with Cadillac being the title sponsor for the SCCA???? Seriously, a lot of people are pissed off right now at the breaks that the Caddy got. It is hardly a Speed GT car, more of a ALMS GT car. Pilgrim was putting down lap times 2 seconds faster than the next fastest guy, AND he was working traffic. He'd come up behind people at 16 and put 8-10 lengths on them by the next turn. Still a seriously nice ride though, they just have to reel it back a bit to make the series more competitive
But steve, won't they by lime rock get weight added to them? Pobst and galatii were down on boost this year because of the extra tire they run correct? I see the point that caddy maybe getting some favors, but i don't know if they are getting anymore then any other new car to the scene??????
Steve is very right, alot of people are pissed off about those Caddies, they made a joke of everyone. Andy going from last to 2nd was a joke for him, he was nailing people everywhere, made no difference, corners, straights, under braking. Then he just sat there behind Max for 2nd, they were playing games. Unless they pound weight at them and restrict the motors, they will destroy at every track.
Yeah the real issue here is that SCCA Pro promotes the series as production based where the cars are supposed to be equalized so that the outcome is decided by the teams through setup and driver skill, not hp. Its not like ALMS prototypes or F1 where budgets rule who usually finishes at the front. World Challenge is getting popular because of the tight competition that its formula usually presents, but this one was off the scale. They've admited that they made a mistake, and are going to hopefully have it corrected at Lime rock. It's best for the series IMO.
By far the best series out there. Formula one is boring with the 1-2 ferrari bs. Scca gt and touring is a blast to watch. I find touring to be a bit more competitive. Can't wait till lime rock.
I agree, I will watch F1 always, but there is way better racing out there. World-Challenge is great racing usually, with touring often having good races, I do like the big boom affect the GT cars have. They have to curb the budgets though, in a couple years they will just be Trans-Am cars.. Trans-Am started as a "production" based series once too, now look at them

Haha yeah, that was all talk from the 1st race of the season, now the last one is a couple of weeks away. BTW the Realtime TSX just won another race this past weekend in Atlanta...We finished 14th after a bad qualifying session.
