Ok, I find that lately I have been telling a lot of people about the arrow by the gas gauge in cars, you know the one that points to one side of the car, meaning thats what side the door to the gas tank is on. I thought this was common knowledge, but in the past month I have probably told 8 people about it who didn't know, and most of them have their own cars and know about cars. So truthfully, did you know about this arrow?
Just discovered it in the last 6 months or so. My boss' car has one and my Dad's new car does too. Didn't know about them before that but I think they are great for when you are borrowing a car so you don't have to get out in the gas station parking lot to see what side of the car the filler cap is on
I love watching people at the gas station trying to look on the side of rental cars or whatever car trying to figure out which side to park on
hahaha.. jen my mother and I were talking about this just the other day..because she STILL does not know how to pump her own gas. I knew about this, although my car dose not have it...and I often have to pull up to the pumps twice. hehe
1) its only on newer vehicles (mines a 92, and its not there) 2) you should really know this. definitely a feature geared for the ladies
I don't have one on either car. A trick that works on like 90% of cars though. If you look at your gauge cluster and your gas gauge is on the left side of the cluster, the gas door is on the right side of the car, and vice-versa.
Yeah, I fill up a lot of different cars while I am at work, and if they are a different brand then my dealership, I usually rely on the arrow when I am hauling into the gas station. Finding the gas door release in a unknown car on the other hand, well that is a different story
plus, stupid kids who like to put shit into peoples gas tanks / syphon, have a harder time finding your tank
I didn't know about the arrow. I'll have to check and see if my car has one. I'm horrible for pulling up on the wrong side of the pump in borrowed vehicles and rentals. My last two cars have had filler door releases and thought that the release is normally on the same side as the gas cap. It just makes sense.
Most domestics aka rental cars have this feature. Also Its common for German built cars to fill on the right side
see, someone like Lucas saying they did not know this shocks me, and he's not the first guy I expected to be all over it that didn't know. Im surprised by the results of the poll edit: I am just surprised because I assumed it was common knowledge. I dont remember how I ever found this out.
Ya, this is the first I've ever heard about it. But I should mention, I have never noticed the arrow before either. So its not like I've seen it, and didn't know what it was. Chances are I would clue in after looking at it/noticing it. It actually took me a few looks to find the arrow in the pic Boots posted. I see the fuel pump thing and my eyes seem to ignore the arrow... kinda hard to explain lol
ya I think the first time I saw it I was like WTF? and it came to me. Im vaguely remembering it. Its just so tiny people dont notice it I guess.
My first car was a 1989 and my second a 1995.. i don't think i had the arrow on either.. but i did know this.. have for a while but i have no idea who told me.. .but everyone i tell about it has no idea.. they all think i'm crazy when we pull in to get gas and i lean over to check.. they think i'm being creepy
