    It's going to be moored at shearwater, so you're not gonna get a drone in the air anywhere near it without MPs crawling inside your ass and closing the door behind them

    How far away from an airstrip do you need to be to fly it? I would assume that's the biggest concern for them

    I'm strictly talking illegal flight here. Obviously I wouldn't suggest anyone do it. I know the DJI drones won't physically fly over 'no fly zones' that are defined by government/FAA but you could definitely do it with a custom drone.

    Yep, the DJI firmware in the drone checks the GPS location against a database and if you're in a no fly zone, it'll give you a warning and not let you fly. Great safety feature but for bad folks, there are ways around it.

    at least 5.5 km away from aerodromes (any airport, seaplane base, or areas where aircraft take-off and land)

    ugggghhhh.... I imagine the Canada Day festivities will be even MORE packed now. Trying to figure out where to park to see the fireworks.....
