Asking for a friend, maybe. How much to lower it...good suspension...quality. What about gas, what's it like? Help me out.
They're good on gas, they have a sticker on the window that tells you all about that... and it's available on edmunds.com As far as lowering it, with shocks, springs, and install of high quality kit you're looking around $800-$1K Do the work yourself to save $300 off that.
Thanks Pat...that's what I figured. I can't stand a jacked car...so the lowering would have to happen shortly after taking delivery.
Check out the Koni strut inserts, they are best... at least for a budget that is. you can go w/ a full coilover setup if you have the coin, but I don't see the point in a street car.
I run eibach sportlines on mine....there not that low..(only around 2 inches)....but I didn't lose a bit in ride...and got the springs thrown in on the deal when I bought the car.
neuspeed and H&R make some quality srings as well, not too pricey either. if you want some cheaper shocks that are still decent try Tokico (sp?) or KYB adjustables.
Drove the Civic, didn't like it in the least. I can't fit in it to begin with. Honestly, it does not compare to my Golf in the least. Not a flame toward any Honda owners, they are great cars....but just not for me. Actually seemed slow. I have the VW dealer looking for a good Jetta 1.8T for me now. Once you go VW, I guess nothing else can compare. What was I thinking?
Yeah, not only that...but just little things..like the sound system. Compared to the 8 speaker I have in mine...with the CD Changer...it didn't compare. Shit, the shifter wrap was like plastic. The clutch seemed weird, didn't spring back like mine does...anyway... Hopefully they find me a 1.8T Wolfy or something...so I can chip it up. Drop it down...done and done.
Yeah, the 2 door...my hair was touching the roof, seat was jacked all the way back, and was at a good angle. Carolynn looked at me when we got in the car...and said "You can't buy this car, you look like an idiot. It's too small."
I'm just over 6'... I weight 221lbs, and Im lean. I'm a recreational bodybuilder, I guess that's what you would call it. My back was wayyyy to big for the seat. I had to hunch my shoulders together at the front for my back to even touch the back of the seat.... The whole test drive I felt like I was in a car made for a child. EDIT - Im just OVER 6 foot...sorry.
Maybe my golf fits me better because the seats are height adjustable. I have loads of room and comfort in that car. I have the seat jacked straight down. People have told me I look small in my car...and that is must have loads of room on the inside. Just like the Mini, that thing fit pretty good.....I didn't mind it at all.
I'm 6'3" and I fit better in the Civic SiR than I do in the Golf... but everyone is built differently, different size torsos and legs, etc. At any rate, VWs are very nice. I had one once, before the BMW and GSR... I loved it in spite of it's many problems. I dunno about once you go VW you never go back, but you won't be happy if it's not German.
Well, I have the 2004 Civic Si 4 door sedan. I have added the AEM Cold air intake, Tsudo 2.5" Cat Back Exhaust system and I find it quite nice. Any car can always use more power, but I am working on that. As far as room, I am 6' 3" and 290 pound bodybuilder and I have no problems. Yes, the seat could be designed better i.e. narrow back rest, but the head room is good. I have the seat set low with the height positioner and the back tilted back. Of course my car before this one was a '94 Aspire, so there is a huge dif there. I used to own a '95 Jetta 4 door sedan and I believe the Civic has just as much room. My next puchase is the coilovers which I am searching on Ebay as I type. Have any of you purchased from a particular Ebay seller that you would recommend for the coilovers? Also, have any of you with the same year Civic found ECU Programmers? If so, from where and how much? Thanks, Mission
Yes yes, I am aware of that, but I came across it on a google search and coudn't resist replying for future viewers.
