So the rumor going is that Martin will be behind the plate for the majority of the games and Navarro will be the DH. Edwin will take 1B, Travis at 2B, Reyes SS and Lawrie 3B. Not too bad. We just need to shore up the outfield and we'll be rollin

I don't know, Navarro can put up some decent numbers. I don't think Smoak or Francisco are consistent enough to be a dedicated DH

navarro will be a good DH. he's a chunky fella he can also spell martin behind the plate if need be. switch hitting is nice

martin throws out like 40% of runners, compared to 20% or so for navarro

Tole does a good job of catchng the kuckleball though.....if Navarro can't match that (I could see him being to slow to react to the diretion change), then id rather see tole

It wouldn't surprise me if Martin can catch the Knuckleball. He's a great defensive catcher.

If I had it my way though, there wouldn't be a knuckleballer to catch

dickey should NOT be the #1.

3-4-5 is where he should be. an innings eater -- not an "ace".

Yeah, they'll never get rid of him, no one would take his contract, but he shouldn't be number 1

That being said... who should be number 1?

    1) stroman
    2) hutchison
    3) sanchez
    4) dickey
    5) happ/norris/groveman/free agent

that'd be my rotation in order

I'd still like to see them add a Cy Young Caliber pitcher to the mix

No way is Stroman ready to be the top guy in the rotation yet. All the evidence you need is in the rise and fall of Rickey Romero

I can't believe they were able to get Donaldson. Sorry to see Lawrie go, but Donaldson is a guy you gotta get if you have the opportunity

Love the trade for the Jays.
Can't say Donaldson is the best 3B in baseball though.
Adrian Beltre has the best numbers last six years hands down.

Billy Beane is one of the smartest GMs in baseball. He knows Lawrie's potential. The thing is that the Jays want to win now and not 5 years from now.

I think Lawrie was only 1 or 2 injury free seasons away from reaching his potential. He's spent more time in the last 3 years on the DL then on the field

But as he becomes know as being injury prone his value is less, would be nice to see him last a full season.

Oh for sure. Maybe if he didn't put 150% in every play, he'd be less likely to injure himself

Sad to see how he's reacted since the trade.

First suggesting the turf was to blame for injuries, then saying the A's are a team that wants to win, and he's never been on that side of the coin before.

    Ouch

I will miss Lawrie. I don't mind all this stuff, he's probably a little emotional.

I'd cheer for him when he came back to the Rogers Center.

Yeah I get the turf comment, but about being on a winning team, thats a bit uncalled for. Of course we can't know what its like in the clubhouse, but still, thats a big shot at your ex team and teammates.

Here's to hoping that the Jays sweep every Oakland series then.
