I was at the Moncton market today and picked up a few marrow bones for Duke. 50 cents each!! I've never seen him so happy, and it's keeping him entertaine while I make my art.
When I took the bone out of the bag and he saw it, I swear this look of awe came across his faceHis tail was wagging for th first five minutes he was chewing, but stopped because he had to conserve energy for chewing.
What do you give your dogs for treats and bones? I also have these organic homemade doggie treats for him from the market, which he also loves.

I dont feed weight baring bones. In the raw world we call them teeth breakers. Now some dogs will be fine with them, but aggressive chewers can break teeth. That includes small dogs. So, know your dog and be careful feeding them.
I only feed edible bones. Pork bones neck bones are good. They a good chew, but dogs can eat em. These are raw of course, never cooked.
As for treats, liver is alway a hit, but really any dog cookie is good. Go Natural has some Ive been buying.
Polaris loves dried liver treats, fish jerky, and smoked beef tendon. Also, he loves the homemade dog cookies, and peanut butter glucosamine treats.

My pups are more lickers than chewers so we go to the local butcher and he cuts us up about 3" thick marrow bones. I freeze then so it takes them a little longer to lick the marrow out. Cost right around $4 for 10 pieces.
Finlay loves loves bones but is a chewer and will eat them. What other 'edible' bones should I look for? We don't raw feed but like to have a few treat bones on hand; I'm quite sure she thinks they are the best thing in the world but I worry about her teeth and being able to pass the bits she does eat. Can I ask at a butcher or superstore/sobeys meat department for things like this? Or even the Saturday Market?
Thanks!

usually bones from the butcher are too small. Go to global and have a look in their fridge. You can get bones from them. They sell Beef neck bones. They're softer, and dogs can gnaw away at them. Beef tails are great too, but again, usually from a butcher they're small and way too thin.
This is a rather large beef neck bone. But big is good. Gets them to work at it.
